Since my print spooler is already 2008 R2, I might just log in to the new Xenapp 6 server and browse to my printer spooler. In the near future I will have to upgrade my Win 2003 server PS 4.5 farm to Srv 2008 R2 with Xenapp 6. Less printer drivers the better but sometimes it is a must to support the needs.Ĥ. Had to removed all drivers and built it back from scratch. I once used a HP driver from their website and it litteraly destroyed the print spooler.
#Citrix xenapp 6.5 policy native driver upd install
If I have to install a printer driver then attempt to use a native Windows driver. Use the Citrix Universal printer driver if possible.Ģ. If they don't have either, use the HPUPD (i hate it say it, but a good deal of printers will work with the HPLJ4/HPUPD driver.)įrom my past Citrix days I used this method and it's been stable for me for years.ġ. If the Manufacturer does have a Universal 64bit Driver, but not a specific 64bit one, use that. You're eliminating the divide between 32 and 64. My suggestion is to install local copies of all the printers you can. In theory, if the printer is installed on the Citrix Server, you only need to worry about the 64bit Drivers. To make this as seamless as possible is there a "recommended" method to managing drivers?įrom other user's experience should I install all the 64 and 32 bit drivers from all the printers I know we will be using (there is about 10) or do I just let the OS and Citrix use the Universal Drivers? Do I see if the printer manufacturer has a universal for that printer and install that one? We are allowing the Citrix Client to redirect all their current drivers and printers to the server.

The issues that I have run into in the past when moving from 32 to 64 bit is the damn printers and their drivers. We are migrating from Presentation Server 4.5 on Server 2003 -32bit to XenApp 6.5 on 2008 R2 - 64bit.
